The Feminist Health Care Research Group invites to a public conversation with Tori Abernathy, Katrin Dinges, Zuzana Jakalova, Zofia nierodzinska, Romily Walden, Stefanie Wiens

moderated by Inga Zimprich (FHCRG)

If we center radical health health care and the normative concepts of “illness“ and “body“ as topics in our artistic work, we would like to create space within our artistic productions to accommodate sick time, crip time and caring time. Not only the physical and temporal frameworks of institutions hinder our desire to allow for more vulnerable modes of production, but also our internalized idea of how effective and economic we ought to accomplish our own cultural labour. In consequence those practices, which require additional time, resources or assistance are pushed out of artistic production. But what does actually keep us from effectively reworking our own spaces of production? How can we create ways of working which can take sick time, crip time, caring time into account?

The panel conversation brings cultural workers together, who work in exhibition and mediation projects and well as in activist and artistic practices on healthcare, illness and disability. We would like to exchange with each other on strategies but also get in touch with internalized resistance, hopes and desires.

The conversation takes place in English with translation to German.
The conversation offers space for participation.

Participants: Tori Abernathy is an artist and activist working on health care, conducting collective research on health. Katrin Dinges is a dancer, poet and artistic and cultural mediator. Zuzana Jakalova curates exhibition projects at Display Prague which address health care and illness under the title Multilogues on the Now. Zofia nierodszinska creates a feminist exhibition program at the municipal gallery Arsenal in Poznan. Romily Walden is an artist working on disability. Romily Walden currently develops a manual how to meet access needs of group members with disability. Stefanie Wiens is a cultural worker who has initiated the project Platz da!, an art mediation project by and with cultural workers with disability.

On the occasion of the panel Feminist Health Care Research Group (FHCRG) will launch it’s sixth zine Sick Time, Crip Time, Caring Time. It compiles questions, conversations and methods and is an invitation to members of care collectives and artistic and activist groups to create contributions for a second volume of zine #6.
